2) In-Home Estimate

If you are just starting out, a great place to start is to have one of out team members come out to give you an in-home or on-site estimate. If you have floor plans/specs/rough drawings you can email them to info@coloradosurfaces.com. It can be the quickest way to get pricing to budget your project even if you do not have material selected.

Having a sink in mind is also helpful to factor in cut-outs and seam placements. Amazon is a great source for stainless steel kitchen sinks and more.

If there is more involved to your project and want to go over the details, its always great for us to come out and see the project and discuss all options. There is no charge associated with us coming out to give you an estimate and answer any questions you may have.

3) Selecting Material

Selecting material is an exciting and fun, but often labor intensive process. It starts with your personal preference. Most clients want to go with a certain aesthetic that fits them and their projects personality. Some clients know the look they are going for, but some clients are still deciding on a color palette. Others know exactly what they are looking for. These days the range of materials are almost limitless.

We invite you to come by our showroom to see samples but encourage you to also visit the suppliers to view the entire slab as it can be difficult to get the overall feel of material from a small-sized sample. It’s always best to see the actual slabs in person to know exactly what you are going to purchase and have installed. The suppliers work directly with us and can not give you pricing but can direct you on color, material, and price range. Most suppliers have price groupings based on least expensive to most expensive. Most suppliers carry natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and recycled options and tile for backsplash.

When it comes to choosing a material for countertop applications, the “best” selection is completely dependent upon the preferences and expectations of those who will be using the surface. With so many options available, from natural stone, granite, marble, quartzite, soapstone, engineered quartz, porcelain and recycled options it’s important to understand how the countertop or application will be used and the appearance over time, as well as ease of maintenance. Some prefer a surface that will remain relatively unchanged over time, while others enjoy the inherent imperfections that come along with many natural materials. Or, as we like to say, they appreciate that natural materials are perfectly imperfect. We will guide you in what to expect with various countertop materials so you can make the choice that works best for your project.

4) template & measurement

Once you are ready to move forward with your project, templates and measurements will be created to ensure exact fit of your new purchase. Without a template, the fabricator would not have an accurate shape and measurement for the area requiring new surface material. There are finite details that are different to every custom install. Templates and measurements ensure an exact fit at the time of install.

5) fabrication

Once templates and measurements are taken, we bring those specs back to our shop and order material or make sure material is on site in a timely manner to begin the process. We would invite you to our showroom and fabrication shop to inspect the slabs in a detailed manner so that you are happy with what you have selected. Templates will then be laid out on your material to ensure you are happy with the flow, look, and desired areas of the slab and determine if there are any necessary placements of seams that need to be discussed before fabrication begins. Once everything is agreed upon, we will get started with cutting and crafting you slab to be installed.

6) installation

Installation is done as smoothly as possible. We pride ourselves on being safe, informative, clean, and as efficient as possible.

Tear-out and disposal is one part of the process if old surfaces need to be removed, which will occur the day of installation. Most tear out and installs are a half-day to one-day process. We are very careful to not damage any cabinets, walls, flooring, or appliances. At the time of the in-home estimate or template, we will go over all the details and process of installation. All items will need to be removed from working areas, including removal of top drawers and shifting of appliances to ensure a fast and quality install. We use drop cloths or ram board to cover floors as to not damage any flooring or track in any debris from outside.

We do not connect plumbing but are happy to make recommendations to licensed plumbers.
